I grew up in Maryland, the Annapolis area. I enlisted into the world's greatest Navy in 1982 and proudly served for 20 years, 1  month, and 11 days.   As an Aviation Structural Mechanic, I worked on fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters homeported in Hawaii and San Diego.  After retiring from active duty in 2002 I began teaching Navy JROTC in the SDUSD.

My wife is an elementary school teacher in the SDUSD teaching kindergarten.  We have two daughters. The oldest just graduated from San Diego State University and my youngest is a Sophomore there. We have two dogs (Christy and Toby) and two cats (Luna and Echo).

My hobbies are family road trips and vacations to other countries.  I also enjoy walking, water sports, especially ocean fishing, and Padres baseball.  I caught the fish of a lifetime July 2020, a 185-pound bluefin tuna about 75 miles off the coast of San Diego.  I exercise daily by powerwalking 5-6 miles a day and doing pushups and core workouts.
